Understanding the Big Picture
You don’t work in a vacuum, and your software doesn’t either.
When a client comes to us with a problem, we put our consulting hat on first. We step back a few feet and take a look at the big picture. Before we decide what we’re going to build, we want to make sure we understand how your business benefits its customers. What are the steps involved? How can we reduce waste? How can we maximize value?
Next, we’ll work with you to analyze the technical aspects of your issue, as well as (and we think most importantly) how your organization functions. In our many years of experience, we’ve found that this unique and honest approach enables us to deliver the best possible value to our customers.
After that come the aspects of project management you’re probably familiar with already. We’ll work with you to identify your top priorities. We’ll research and recommend the right tools for the task. We’ll assemble an appropriate team. We’ll set to work on the first deliverable, or as we like to call it, the first bite of the elephant.
Eating an Elephant
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time, as the adage goes. What does that have to do with software development? It’s how we like to work: in small chunks with limited risk.
We’ll deliver working software to you early and often. That way, you’ll start to receive a return on your investment right away.
We approach projects using an Agile methodology, which calls for:
Agile processes recognize that we learn more about a problem as we work on it, and that we can harness that knowledge and turn it into a competitive advantage. To learn more about Agile, see our Agile Business Consulting page.
Building for Today and Tomorrow
We want to leverage what you already have: the analysis you’ve already done, and the systems you already have in place.
We want to provide the best system for your needs today, and one that serves you well into the future. We’ll work to understand your business, and then structure our solutions in a modular way, so that you can get the most out of both the framework and the individual components — even as your business grows and technology changes.
Speaking of technology changes, that’s another one of the reasons we build modularly. It’s also a big reason that we’re in this business. We’re tool junkies and proud of it. Our enthusiasm translates into the thorough understanding we have of our technology options. And it means we offer our clients a huge amount of flexibility.
Think of it this way: if you only have a hammer, you treat everything like a nail. On the other hand, if you have a complete set of tools and you know how to use them, you’ll be able to recognize and employ the right tool for every task.
